Driving instructions for the Train Robbers area:

Directions from Jim Cook

Wudi7 Ride Arrival Route Sheet

Notes: Arkansas State Hwy 7 is a "speed trap" from Caddo Valley all the way north to the turn-off to the Riding Area. Please drive slowly and especially courteous on the back roads. We need to maintain a good relationship with the locals.

From the North on I-30:
Take the Social Hill exit, Highway 84, and proceed West to Bismarck, AR It will be approximately 15 miles West to Bismarck, at the intersection of State Hwy 7 and State Hwy 84.

From the South at the intersection of State Highway 7 and I-30 at Caddo Valley/Arkadelphia:
Take State Hwy 7 north approximately 12 miles north to Bismarck.

From Bismarck, AR/The intersection of Hwy 84 and Hwy 7.

Proceed North on Hwy 7 approximately 1.4 miles. Turn right on paved road.
(note: sign for "Diamond B Ranch", chicken houses on top of hill above road.)
Proceed .3 mile
At top of hill, turn left
Proceed .3 mile.
At bottom of the hill, take a right at the three way intersection, on Camp Road. Gravel surface will start soon.
(note: The western border of the Property (where we will have permission to ride) is .5 miles east of this intersection. Watch for the trail crossing the road at that point.)
Proceed 2.85 miles East on Camp Road.
Take a right on Agar Loop road.
This turn is in a long straight stretch in the road.
(If you miss this turn, you will see Tree Road on the left within 200 yards, and can turn around.)
Proceed .85 miles on Agar Loop.
At top of hill, watch for the trail crossing, followed closely by a downhill hairpin left curve. Be slow and cautious at this point. It is a bad place to meet someone in a hurry.
Past here, the road becomes a very nice and well maintained ONE LANE road. (You are getting very close to the campground, so hurrying won't make any difference in arrival time.)
Turn right on road to campground.
Proceed .15 miles to campground/pipeline right-of-way.

For anyone coming down to the Train Robbers trails from the north/Kansas City:
Here are some more detailed directions for getting to camp from Hot Springs. The basic route is 71/540 south to Hwy 270 East. That will take you over to Hot Springs. Then take the bypass south around Hot Springs and pick up 7 south.

All distances are only approximate, at best.
From the hwy 270 bypass, take hwy 7 south.
From the bypass, it is approximately 14 miles down hwy 7 to the turn off/bridge (in to the Y on Camp road.)
Caution. Several surprisingly sharp curves.
South, out past the lake, and all the businesses, there is a long uphill straight, which develops a third (passing) lane, and curves to the left. Hwy 7 proceeds to curve through a pass in the mtn ridge, and changes back to two lane, after a curve to the right.
Another straight stretch, and after a curve to the left, there should be some houses, and a road to the left (at a 90 degree angle), with a new bridge, just off the highway.
This road will take you directly to the "Y" at the west end of Camp Road.
From the Y, go east 2.8 miles, and turn right.
Go .85 mile and take another right.
The camping area is .15 mile ahead.

Camping is open the length of the pipeline right-of-way. I suggest that anyone who doesn't like generators would be best served to not set-up camp too close to our spot.
Jim Cook gave me directions from Bismarck/TR trails over to Lost Creek, for anyone wanting to go the MX track. Take 84 West from Bismarck. Go 12 miles to Deer Park Road and turn right. Go about 100 yards (I think it's a left) onto Dearman Road which is gravel. That road runs into Lost Creek.

Apparently there's a gate at a 90 in the road. EVERYONE entering the Lost Creek facility must sign a release even if you're not riding there.

There are three gas stations in Bismarck and two more between Bismarck and Lost Creek. Lost Creek has camping but doesn't have any RV hookups but they can help with the water if you have a holding tank. It is about 15 miles or so to Bismarck where the Train Tobber trail is located. Stores are within 15 miles and Lost Creek has plenty of firewood.

Stewart says it's 5 hours from Train Robbers to Branson so probably closer to 6 to get up the the Chadwick riding area. The best way up there is to take 65 north from Little Rock up to Branson and then follow the directions above.

For those that need a dump station on the way up to Chadwick from Train Robbers, there is one at Parker's RV in Harrison, AR. This is just north of Harrison, AR right on Hwy 65. It's on the left side of hwy 65 as you're leaving Harrison. They have propane and fresh water, too. I've stopped there the last two years and they've always been very friendly. I wouldn't stop past 10pm or so, though, at least not without calling ahead. Here are the details:

Stewart Hall's Bull Creek riding area directions, just in case we get to use it.

It is pretty simple to get there. Take hwy 65 to hwy 176 East go about 1 to 1 1/2 miles turn left on round mountain road (there will be a sign showing road to left) go straight on round moutain rd. You will come to a bridge on right side (low water) cross bridge and gate to ranch is on the right side. It may be arrowed from hwy 65 all the way.

There is grass track right by camp and a little trail that beginners could ride if all else fails.

P.S hwy 76 east is about 6 miles north of F hwy that we take to Chadwick from the south. From the north hwy 76 east is about 17 miles south of hwy 14 that you would take to Chadwick.
